This past year has brought many changes to our operations. As many of you are aware, Paul and I switched to May calving in 2010. We did this for many reasons; lower wintering costs on the cows, less labor and a more enjoyable lifestyle to name a few. It was even better than we thought it would be.  Calving on pasture was an absolute dream. However, due to this we knew we would make the move to selling coming 2-year-old

bulls. Thus, we will not have any of our bulls for sale this year.  Due to this, we do not have the numbers necessary to hold a sale in town. So, we have decided to hold a private treaty sale at our ranch.  All of the bulls selling will be from Chad and Wayne Solberg’s herd. They are the same quality as in past years and are being grown out on a high-roughage ration at our ranch near Bismarck.  They represent the top cut from over 150 bull calves born in 2010 on their ranch.  The sires used are some of the top in the industry, including an exciting set of calves from SAV Dimension, the $18,000 seller in the 2008 SAV sale. They are deep ribbed, easy fl eshing and full of meat. The maternal strength of the dams of these bulls is unmatched.  All of the bulls will be tested for homozygous black and those results will be available prior to the sale. We expect the vast majority to test homozygous.  Scrotal measurements and average daily gains will be available also prior to the sale, and Private Treaty asking prices will be available two weeks prior to the sale.
